Long Stratton in Norfolk is a small town in south Norfolk, north of the market town of Diss and 12 miles south of the county town of Norwich. It is situated along the A140 that runs from Norwich to Ipswich, with regular bus services to Norwich and Diss. The mainline stations at Diss and Norwich are roughly a 20 minute drive with half-hourly train service to London Liverpool Street.The town was once two villages: Stratton St Mary and Stratton St Michael, both of which had churches serving their parishes. St Mary’s church contains one of two examples in England of a Sexton’s wheel, a device used in the Middle Ages to determine which day to fast in honour of St Mary.Long Stratton now has three schools: Manor Field Infant School, St Mary’s Church of England Junior School, and Long Stratton High School.
